Not surprisingly, Ed’s Garage Doors was started by a guy named Ed. Ed O’Neil founded Ed’s Garage Doors, Ltd. in 1972. He had one truck and ran the business out of his Norwalk apartment. As the business grew, Ed moved to a second floor office on Main Street in Norwalk, where it remained until the mid-1980’s.

In 1989, Rich Cunningham, who happened to be dating Ed’s daughter at the time, bought Ed’s Garage Doors. Ed moved to Florida. Driven by Rich’s entrepreneurial, customer-focused style, the business continued to grow, allowing Rich to move the business to 9 Cross Street – still in Norwalk – where he was able to set up a small showroom.

Fast forward 20 years and Rich, now happily married to Ed’s daughter, recently moved the business again. This time to an expansive, bright, state-of-the-art, award-winning, 6,000 SF showroom in, you guessed it, Norwalk – South Norwalk, actually, on Water Street. Over 30 full sized garage doors are on display at any one time, in this sun-filled showroom.

Today, Ed’s Garage Doors has grown to 13 employees and 9 trucks, all operating out of the Water Street location, continuing to sell, install and service garage doors all over New England.
